My husband and I adopted AJ at the Plainfield location last year in February. AJ was recovering from surgery after losing his right eye in a fight with another dog that lived in his home. AJ got off to a rough start – besides losing his eye he was underweight and looked like he hadn’t had a haircut in a year. He was treated four times at the animal hospital after we adopted him for infection in the incision. AJ was a little aggressive at first. In fact, he snapped at both myself and my husband on several occasions when we were trying to administer medication. AJ also did not like other dogs which was a problem. He was very aggressive with my son’s little dog Charlie. After six weeks, we considered giving him back to the rescue but we felt so sorry for him and what he had gone through that we decided to try to make it work.
One year later, AJ is our loving, sweet little boy – very spoiled and loving every minute of it. He now loves when his friend Charlie comes over to visit and also gets along very well with our grandchildren. My husband and I joke that AJ was “born again”.
Without your rescue, AJ would probably been put to sleep.
I wanted to share our story and thank you for all the animals that you help save!
