We adopted him in July. He had been at the Plainfield location for 8 months or so. Pretty long for a dog who was only 1+1/2 years old. We went there “just looking” since we just started feeling like we were ready to get a dog again. Our last dog was a rescue and we wanted to adopt again. My husband and I and Rufus hit it off right away. He was very friendly and well-behaved right from the beginning so we decided to foster him for a week to see how he fit in.

We called our son, Adam, and told him we were bringing a new dog home…he didn’t know we were going looking that day. Well, needless to say, it was pretty evident even from that first day that he was part of the family. He was a little timid in the beginning, but slowly broke out of his shell and has even become a little goofy sometimes.

He has gained weight and has gotten used to our routine. He loves playing with his new toys and going for a walk and being around our extended family.
