Olive

olive1This is Olive, she is a black and white domestic long hair that was previously named Fancy at the Plainfield Shelter. I re-named her that silly name because of how green her eyes are, they reminded me of olives! She just turned 8 in September, and my parents adopted her in December 2005 when she was about 3 or 4 months old from the Plainfield Location, and I was about 14. She has been my best friend and by far the greatest and most amazing animal companion a human could ask for. I want to share this because every shelter animal is as awesome as mine! If you get the chance to adopt from the Plainfield Shelter, you will never ever ever EVER regret it.

Olive’s favorite hobbies are eating, sleeping, crying for attention, eating, laying on any part of you, eating, sleeping, and showing off her nifty tricks..and also…did I mention eating? She knows how to give you her paw(only if there is toy mouse or something shiny in your hand) as well as sit and wait patiently for her morning treats. Olive is also quite talented at making sure the mouse population remains non existent and will make sure to leave the occasional present at the parental’s bedroom threshold. She can roll over, and we suspect she might be smarter than the dog. We affectionately refer to her as catdog because of her ability to sleep almost anywhere, in any given position as well as eat anything(including the dog food) if given the opportunity. Whenever your in a bad mood, she is there, especially to make you laugh when her and the dog like to wrestle. Whenever there is a new plant in the house, she is also there. That includes attempting to make her way into the christmas tree. She never fails to amuse, and always knows when its time to cuddle on a lazy day especially on the fleece blankets. There is this ability she has at detecting sadness and she will come right up and bat at you with her paw, as if to say, “Stop that”, and then will proceed to curl up on your lap and purr like it is her job. You see, she is more than a pet. More than just an animal, especially to me. Even though she loves everybody in the family, I know she will always be mine. It might be the fact that she always sleeps at the foot of my bed or the fact that she will come rushing to the door whenever I walk in to cry and meow and follow ONLY me around. She has grown up with me, from when I was a gangly teenager all the way until now, with my 21st birthday coming up. We are kinda getting old together, but I would have it no other way :-) Thank you Plainfield Human Society!!!

Sincerely,

Briana, and Family
