Volunteering for HSP is a rewarding and fun activity that allows you to be actively involved in helping homeless animals find new homes. HSP volunteers show animals to prospective adopters, and assist as adoption counselors on the weekends. To prepare for this job volunteers are trained:
• How to handle animals
• Where to find and how to show animals
• How to help people make a decision about adoption
• How to explain the adoption process and requirements to those adopting
Adoption coordinators are on site on the weekends to help, give direction and evaluate/process adoption applications. You’ll be partnered with an experienced adoption counselor at first so you won’t be on your own. This position requires strong communication skills, as well as the ability to handle both cats and dogs.
Volunteers need to be dependable and age 18 or older.
For more information, email HSP at email@example.com and someone will get back to you OR
Download the Application.
You can mail the application to the address listed on the form or you can drop it off at any of our partner clinics.
Please understand that Help Save Pets receives many applications to volunteer every week. Since this animal rescue is located within several different animal hospitals, it is important that we not exceed our volunteer capacity. Therefore Help Save Pets offers new volunteer training approximately 5 times a year.
If you submit your application to our organization, you may not hear back from us immediately, however if you include an email address on your application or a phone number to be contacted at, someone will be in contact with you and invite you to a scheduled orientation as they become available.
Occasionally opportunities are available to assist our organization through public events, whereas the volunteers do not need lengthy training. If you would like to be considered for these events, please be sure to check off EVENTS on your application and you may be called to help!
Please also note that we do NOT accomodate community service hours at this time.
